Improvement of Inventory Management System for Example, the Company "Metro Cash & Carry"

The purpose of this work was to increase the efficiency of inventory management system by development of a new approach to calculating volumes for promo and by developing a tool for data collection and processing of customer’s orders. For this, data analysis and modeling were applied to company’s data, and the DuPont model was used to assess the impact of costs. Graduation work includes an introduction with the main stages of research, three chapters describing the market, theoretical background, economic evaluation and a conclusion with findings and recommendations for further research. The results of the graduation work showed that the analyzed company manages inventory system with a list of areas for improvement. The research also demonstrated areas for development in relation to administrative issues and the organizational structure of the object under research. Along with this, it was proven that this set of measures would be beneficial in the short term. Based on these results, it can be stated that modern theory in the field of logistics and SCM is of great importance for retailers in order to capture market share.
