Main Trends in the Insurance Market: the Role of Digital Technologies

This article is devoted to the study of the role of digital technologies as the main trend in the development of the insurance market in Russia in recent years. The aim of the work is to analyze the insurance market, identify its main trends, and also consider the development of new digital technologies as a driver for the growth of the insurance market now and in the near future. In the course of the study, the works of both domestic and foreign authors on the topic under consideration were studied. Using statistical methods, we analyzed the dynamics of indicators for the development of online sales of insurance policies in Russia since 2012, and made a forecast of the number of premiums received through online sales in the first three quarters of 2019 year. The work contains an analysis of the structure of online sales by type of insurance from 2014 to 2017, as well as a study of the activities of leading life insurance companies. The reasons for the lack of digital and information technologies in the field of life insurance are identified.
