Student: Makhova Mariya

Supervisor: Yury Kupriyanov

Faculty: Faculty of Creative Industries

Educational Programme: Journalism (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2019

The purpose of the research is to highlight the problems of morality and ethics that may arise when using artificial intelligence in Russian and foreign media, as well as analysis of changes in editorial media standards related to the introduction of AI. Theoretical research methods: content analysis. Empirical research methods: case-study. The basis of the empirical base of the research included: specific cases of artificial intelligence in the media in Russia and the world; codes, declarations and charters of journalists of Russia. The hypothesis of the study will be confirmed. Responsibility for the content remains on journalists and editors, not only because of the vulnerability of AI, but also because of the attitude to AI as a tool with which a person can simplify their work. The use of such new tools does not mean the removal of responsibility and the “transition” of such responsibility from a journalist to a developer, the developer and the media worker will share this responsibility. It is possible that in the process of introducing automation, in a few years the ethics of artificial intelligence in journalism will change.
