The purpose of the research is to develop proposals for the improvement of the mechanism of legal regulation of insurance activity in modern Russia. The study analyzes insurance as object of legal regulation, peculiarities of insurance legislation and the relationship of insurance legislation with current insurance practices. The study explores general and specific problems existing in the legal regulation of insurance activity, in particular in licensing insurance activity. The study proposes solutions to several problems existing in the legal regulation of certain types of insurance, in particular, compulsory insurance of civil liability of vehicle owners and insurance of occupational activities.
