Over the past decade, an extraordinary situation has been observed in Russia: against the background of a growing unreadiness to take part in politics, ordinary Russians are not weakened by the interest in political topics, but, on the contrary, the interest is even growing. Observing such dynamics, it becomes interesting who are these activists who, against the background of a massive decline in political participation, continue to take part in the political life of the country, what their portrait is and what types of political participation exist in general and what are their socio-demographic and psychographic characteristics . Therefore, the aim of the work was to analyze the dynamics of types of political participation and portraits of representatives of types of political participation from 2006 to 2016. To achieve this goal, the base of the European Social Survey was used as the most relevant source of data. The analysis of the dynamics of types of political participation in Russia and portraits of representatives of types of political participation in the dynamics from 2006 to 2016 was carried out. This study helped not only to analyze the dynamics of the degree of Russian involvement in political participation, but also gave an idea of the possible motives for the participation of Russians in the political life of the country.
