Student: Vardanyan Nika

Supervisor: Yury Gulitov

Faculty: Faculty of Creative Industries

Educational Programme: Communication Design (Master)

Final Grade: 8

Year of Graduation: 2019

This work was done in order to create a branding and visual conception for the rap artist PLC from Krasnodar. The author of this project wanted to understand, what inspires and guides the fans of this performer, in order to transform their feelings and ideas into a visual identity. To achieve this, there was a visual research about musical fanzines of the last century. For they are one of the most genuine and honest representations of fan loyalty that becomes art. After examining the material, the author tried to apply the acquired knowledge on the modern rap arena and to create something as emotionally honest for the rapper PLC’s visual concept. Fanzines’ creators usually had only markers and glue at their disposal when creating their zines, that's why their creations were handmade and sometimes even naïve, but incredibly emotional and genuine. The author of this project took this simplicity and this grunge style as a basis and created a number of images, each of which was inspired by a different song of the artist, which create a various but unified stylistic concept.
