Warehouse IT Implementation and Optimizing

The research paper analyzes modern information technologies that could be implemented in a supply chain’s warehouse. The novelty of the research is that it will help to reduce the existing uncertainty about how to choose the exact technology to improve warehousing operational activities, how to implement it and evaluate the effectiveness. Despite a high number of warehousing modern technologies, there is still a gap in finding the most suitable technology, introducing it to the warehouse and evaluating the effectiveness of the implementation. The goal of the research is to analyze modern technologies that can improve warehouse operational activities and fulfill the procedure of choice of the technology to evaluate the effectiveness by a case study of a specific company. As for objectives, in the paper were analyzed the role of warehouse, logistics processes in warehousing sphere and main criteria of evaluating the effectiveness of a warehouse. Moreover, a profound study of the information technology role in logistics and supply chain management was held and main peculiarities of warehouse automation and the market of information technology providers (WMS-systems) were defined. The practical part of the paper includes the analysis of the current condition of X company’s warehouse, thorough comparison of warehousing information technologies, a procedure of choice of a suitable technology and evaluation of economic introduction effect.
