The Middle East has almost always been one of the “hot spots” on Earth, where more powerful and influential powers are fighting for power and hegemony throughout the territory of the region in question, by exerting political pressure. Today, political processes in the Middle East significantly influence the political and economic agenda in the international arena. It is necessary to study the origins of a particular policy of the countries of the Middle East region. The dominant religion in the Middle East is Islam. However, many overlook the fact that modern Islam is not at all a homogeneous religion. It is divided into two main areas - Sunni and Shiism. The relationship between the two branches of the Muslim religion is characterized by considerable historical complexity and tension between them at the present stage. In the region of the Middle East both main Islamic directions are represented. The relationship of Sunni and Shiite have a significant impact on the political balance of power in the Middle East.
