In this paper, the author examines past, present and future of alternative justice in the Russian Federation. For this purpose, the concepts of "alternative justice", "conflict" and "alternative dispute resolution" were studied. The analysis of the historical development of the Institute of Alternative Justice has shown that the forms of alternative dispute resolution have functioned and remained popular since the times of Medieval Russia. The data obtained from historical sources and modern legislation of the Russian Federation provided the ground to formulate the main conclusion of the master's work: the development of alternative justice in the Russian Federation is hindered by the shortcomings of regulatory regulation, not the peculiarities of the legal culture of citizens of the Russian Federation. The author formulates proposals both on practical and conceptual development of alternative justice in the Russian Federation.
