The historical past is closely connected with historical memory, influencing society and its moods, also it effects on domestic politics, international relationships and world politics. In this work we will examine the problems of the historical past in relationships between Japan and China and the Republic of Korea and the impact of those problems on relationships. We consider, this issue is relevant because the problems of the historical past still affect diplomatic relations. In this study, the following tasks were set: analysis of problems of the historical past: identifying their essence and reasons for relevance in the present time; determination of the significance of the problems of the historical past in the modern political agenda; observation of how attitudes towards the problems of the past and approaches to their settlement in the Japanese government have changed over time; and also to give a tentative forecast of the development of the situation and suggest ways of possible resolution of problems, if this is possible. In connection with these tasks, the work was structured as follows: in the first chapter, the general theoretical basis was drawn up by using the abstraction method, and only then the trends that "do work" for Japan were identified. In the second chapter, an understanding of the difference in approaches was reached, and variations in relationships and their dependence on various factors were revealed by a retrospective look at the problems. It also defines how the phenomena described in the first chapter behave in practice within the framework of relations between Japan and the PRC and the Republic of Korea. In conclusion part we made an assessment of the significance of the problems of the historical past in the modern agenda, and then a forecast was made based on the history of the development of the problems and recent events related to the emperor's abdication and the question of "women for comfort."
