Computer Simulation of Current Spreading Across the Spacecraft Surface from Electrostatic Discharge

Student: Krol Leonid

Supervisor: Vladimir Stepanovich Saenko

Faculty: HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE)

Educational Programme: Computer Systems and Networks (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2019

Purpose of the work: Creation of an Autonomous method of designing the pattern of current spreading on the surface of the spacecraft during electrostatic discharge. Tasks: To analyze the effect of electrostatic discharge in the space condition. Explore the methods of analysis of the phenomenon. Identify the decisive factors. To analyze the existing solutions for modeling. Create your own algorithm. Obtained result: All the necessary tests are conducted and the factors that most affect the pattern of the spreading currents are identified. The formulas for the implementation of the algorithm are composed. The formats of 3D models for import are indicated. The program showing a picture of current spreading on the basis of the imported 3D model is written. Recommendations proposed on the basis of the work: Despite the simplicity of the chosen platform, as well as the selected format of 3D models, it is necessary to carry out scrutinous work on the extension of the supported formats, as well as the adjusting of the program for a more flexible graphics engine.

Student Theses at HSE must be completed in accordance with the University Rules and regulations specified by each educational programme.

Summaries of all theses must be published and made freely available on the HSE website.

The full text of a thesis can be published in open access on the HSE website only if the authoring student (copyright holder) agrees, or, if the thesis was written by a team of students, if all the co-authors (copyright holders) agree. After a thesis is published on the HSE website, it obtains the status of an online publication.

Student theses are objects of copyright and their use is subject to limitations in accordance with the Russian Federation’s law on intellectual property.
