Results based on this data could possibly be not relevant for the post-communist countries with their unique features of socialization and experience of transition from a command towards market economy. The purpose of this paper is to estimate to what extent historical particularities have shaped preferences for redistribution in post-communist countries and explore factors which may explain support for redistribution in 28 countries.
