Currently, there is a great demand for children's books of the “new format”. Society is tired of “traditional” publications, and this concerns not only the visual component, but also the semantic one (concept of publication, structure, semantic content, text content). In order to actualize the so-called DETGIZ, it is necessary to introduce a new approach to the creation of children's books. The main criteria for this approach are manufacturability and personal involvement of developers. In fact, to implement such a project, you need to create a children's publishing house of a new format. In our work, we tried to create and test a project of such a publishing house based on the HSE Art and Design School. To begin with, we developed the concept of the publisher itself. The “creative interaction” of editors, authors, and designers was defined as the main principle of the work. Next, to launch a test mode, we developed a line of first trial editions. It is important to note that each edition was planned to be supplied with numerous and diverse visual material, including author's illustrations in combination with historical and modern objects of visual culture of various genres and styles. After developing the concept of a publishing house and a line of test concrete book projects, we began to work together with editors and designers. Text material was created for the aforementioned publications (see Annex), visual content was selected, principal layouts were developed for each project. As a result of the work, it was possible to create a project of a working publishing house, to establish interaction between professional positions. In the future, such a publisher will be able to create children's books of any genre and subject matter. The technology of work developed by us is applicable also in other publishing, design (and not only) projects.
