Human Rights and the Idea of Negative Liberty

This paper is an attempt to make clear the necessity of the search for the appropriate liberalism' conception that we need today. The purpose of this thesis consists in revealing the advantages and disadvantages of competing versions of liberalism and contributing to the creation of such a version of liberalism that would be able to resolve the contradictions characteristic for the competing theories. The paper contibutes to the formulation of a human rights theory and helps to eliminate some shortcomings of the prevailing approaches.
