Recently, technologies of augmented reality have been actively developing: Google has been experimenting with Google Glass glasses since 2014, the latest version of which was released in May 2019. Apple has been introduced ArKit in 2017, its augmented reality framework greatly expanded the possibilities of creating augmented reality using apps on smartphones, and judging by the registered patents, just like Google is experimenting with augmented reality headset. In the games and entertainment industry, augmented reality became popular after the release of two projects by Niantic: Ingress and PockemonGo. At first glance it may seem that this technology is nothing more than a demonstration of the capabilities of modern devices, however, after reviewing the augmented reality market and its applications, it became clear that in some areas, in addition to entertainment, this technology is already being successfully implemented and allows you to increase productivity and the performance of companies or products in achieving their objectives. Studying the research of advanced analytical corporations, it became clear that the market for augmented reality is constantly growing and by 2025 it will almost reach the mark of 200 billion dollars. At the same time, it is worth paying attention that only two categories of projects will bring the greatest amount of profit: augmented reality devices and software products that are at the junction of expertise of a particular industry and expertise of augmented reality. And if the first category has a fairly high entry threshold - the development of augmented reality devices requires billions of investments, the second category's entry threshold, is becoming lower, thanks to modern frameworks, but the ultimate success of such products will depend very much on the market niche. According to investors, one of the most interesting of them is educational content. The purpose of this work is to develop a draft educational service that allows using the smartphone and augmented reality tools to study the past of various historical sites both in the city and beyond.
