Studying of prisoners of war in the GUPVI systemstarted immediately after the Second World war, but for a long time the active study was not possible due to lack of available not classified resources. In addition, in most cases, everything related to the German prisoners of war, was considered more largely and precisely, first of all, because of German prisoners’ number. The researches on the Italian prisoners of war in the USSR appeared just now, and most of them are about their everyday life in the camps. This work, based first of all on unpublished archival sources, examines the various behavioral strategies of Italian prisoners of war during 1943-1946, the ways they were formed and influenced with the numerous factors. Another feature of this study is the using of several methods belonging mostly to the social and history, which makes the study more relevant
