Traditions of Winemaking, Wine Trade and Wine Consumption in Paris and its Surroundings around 1500

This paper aims to compile the complex representation of the role of wine in different spheres of Ile-de-France inhabitants' life in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. The study analyses the specificity of continuity in winemaking, wine trade and wine consumption in Paris and the surrounding area in the late 15th and early 16th centuries on the basis of various sources that represent monuments of medieval fiction of different genres, royal and commercial legislation, works devoted to the study of agriculture, images and objects related to winemaking, conservation, transportation and consumption of wine. The study contains introduction, three chapters, conclusion and references. The first chapter is devoted to the experience of medieval winemaking in the Ile-de-France: traditions and evolution. The second chapter represents the reconstruction of the organization of the wine trade in Paris and the surrounding area. The third chapter is about the perception of the drink by Parisians in a socio-cultural context.
