Public Control over the Activities of Election Commissions

Annotation to the Master's dissertation "Public control over the activities of election commissions" by the student MPP 171 P.V. Dubravsky. The dissertation is devoted to an important aspect of the public and open nature of the electoral process - public control over the activities of election commissions. Public control is the main feature of the public nature of the elections in the Russian Federation, is an important guarantee of transparency, fairness of democratic procedures in the rule of law. The aim of the work is to consider the institution of public control over the activities of election commissions in terms of its position in the electoral legislation of the Russian Federation. In accordance with the goal, the author has set the following tasks: 1. Identify the role and place of public control over the activities of election commissions in legal democracy; 2. To correlate public control over the activities of election commissions with the principle of openness of the electoral procedures; 3. To consider public control in international acts on democratic elections and legal positions of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation. Based on the results of the work, it was concluded that insufficient attention of the legislator is paid to public control, norms relating to public control are part of the laws governing the public nature of elections, and the independent importance of public control as an institution ensuring the legitimacy of the electoral process is not highlighted.
