This paper examines the problem of food security. In the course of the analysis, an index was constructed that reflects the level of food security in 115 countries from 2000 to 2017. To study the relationship betweenthe constructed integral indicator and some macroeconomic factors, a time-series regression model was built. The model results showed that the greatest impact on the food security index from a selected list of factors is exerted by such parameters as changes in consumer prices and changes in household spending on final consumption
