From the moment of restoration in the still Soviet Ukraine, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church began to play a significant role not only in the religious, but also in the public space of Ukraine. She joined the anti-Soviet regime, and in independent Ukraine, she showed herself as a repeated critic and opposition to political power, openly supporting the revolutions of 2004 and 2014. Today, its activity as a public institution, which is trying to influence many areas of the life of Ukrainians, receives mixed assessments among researchers. The mechanisms of influence on society, used by the OCHC, are characterized by two components. Firstly, the activity of the UGCC is nationalistic. The church speaks not only about the protection of the integrity and independence of Ukraine, but also about the preservation of Ukrainian identity - Ukrainian culture, language, culture. Thus, the formulated social position of the church is designed to respond to requests that are relevant for the state context - the problems of the ideology and state structure of the country. Secondly, through the formulation of a specific social doctrine, the church encourages Ukrainians to actively work to change the political and social structure of Ukraine. The specificity of the teaching is based on the idea of Christian democracy, designed to establish a democracy in Ukraine based on Christian morality and God's law, which will be perceived at all levels of state-building.
