The work is devoted to the works of E.L. Schwartz for children, published in the children's Leningrad magazines "New Robinson", "Hedgehog", and "Siskin" from 1924 to 1939. The goal of our research is, firstly, the re-publication of Schwarz materials for children's periodicals in digitized form, and secondly, the analysis of Schwarz’s works for children from an artistic and ideological point of view. We examined the genesis of Schwartz as a children's writer in two aspects: his personal writing path, started in the Donbass newspaper Kochegarka, where Schwartz worked in his youth, and the development of Schwartz within the framework of the requirements of the times, within the trends of children's literature of that era.
