The BA thesis considers the process of forming the Petersburg community of psychiatrists from the first half of the 19th century until the middle of the second decade of the 20th century. The study focuses on the three main aspects of the functioning of this community in this period: teaching, research and forensic activities (practice of psychiatric examination) — each of which is devoted to a separate chapter of work. The author identifies the three largest psychiatric teaching centers in St. Petersburg, examines in detail the protocols, proceedings of meetings and conventions within the St. Petersburg psychiatric community and the process of borrowing the experience of foreign colleagues through trips and reports from them. The work also contains a brief analysis of the legislation in the field of mental health care for people with mental diseases and particular procedures for their examination.
