Plurals in Japanese -tachi.

.The main objective of this paper is the usage of the Japanese plural suffix -tachi. The purpose of this study is to analyze lexical co-occurrence with plural suffix -tachi and its uses, also to clarify the perception of the plurality among Japanese native speakers. . -tachi is the most frequently used suffix among Japanese plural makers according to the data of Corpus of Spontaneous Japanese 『日本語話し言葉コーパス』 Therefore, this study targets suffix -tachi. As previous researches show, -tachi is used as plural markers in Japanese, but -tachi is also used as associative plurals and empathy markers. This paper suggests five roles of plural maker -tachi.
