Year of Graduation: 2019

This study is concerned with one of the key aspects of Alexander Galich’s lyrical works - the concept of memory. Without a proper study of Galich’s phenomenology of memory there is no chance to examine and fully comprehend nor the pathos of his poetry as a whole, nor the particular works (poems, especially one of the most important for Galich - ‘The meditation on the long distance runners”), nor lyric cycles, such as “Writers’ walkways” song cycle. The studying of phenomenology of memory requires a thorough consideration of the peculiarities of the poetics, biographical and historical context, intertextual analysis of Galich’s poetry. That is the reason why this study provides a detailed text analysis and has a special focus on taking into account previous studies of Galich’s works and biography, especially, on what has escaped from researchers’ attention or has led to a false or incorrect interpretations.
