The current study is dedicated to researching critical success factors in NPD-projects. In the framework of the theoretical part of the study the definition of «innovation project» was examined, classifications of innovation projects were reviewed and features of NPD-projects were analyzed. What is more, in the literature review the substance of the definition «innovative project success» and determinants of innovation projects were researched. As for the empirical part of the study, based on econometric instruments and the data of 61 NPD-projects of the company «S» in the period 2006-2015, we identified critical commercial success factors in NPD-projects a year before the launch of an innovative product on the market. The results indicated that such marketing factors as the market gross (increasing market capacity) and positive import dynamics of a substitute product to Russia, being monitored 3 years before the analyzed period, are critical commercial success factors in NPD-projects.
