The Candlelight Revolution and Its Reflection in the Popular Culture of the Republic of Korea

This paper explores the process of Candlelight Revolution in the Republic of Korea, which took place starting from November, 2016 to March, 2017, covering the aspects of its reflection in the Korean popular culture such as music (protest songs) and art (caricatures). The work is aimed to reveal the main topics and problems, which were raised by South Korean artists and musicians in connection with the political events of 2016-2017. Various videos, works of art and protest songs were analyzed using the methods of content analysis and comparative analysis. The results of this paper estimate the impact the "Candlelight Revolution" had on the mass culture of Korea and reveal the main topics of president’s foreign and domestic policy, concealing facts, bribery, etc. сonsidered in political caricatures and protest songs.
