Symbolic Apprehension of Irkutsk State University in Public Awareness of Irkutsk Region

The paper presents theoretical approaches and empirical features of the development of the University's reputation through the symbolic perception of the population of the University region. The study concerns the city of Irkutsk and the Irkutsk region as a whole. Based on the questionnaire survey, focus groups and expert interviews, the analysis and systematization of factors that contribute to the formation of a symbolic perception of the University by the population and the formation of the University's reputation on the basis of this. The author analyzes the symbols of building the reputation of the ISU in the public consciousness of the population of the city of Irkutsk and the Irkutsk region. It also developed recommendations for improving the reputation of the ISU in the region.
