Majalla is the Model of Fiqh Codification

The topic of building the rule of law state within the Islamic legal system is gaining more and more popularity in the scientific community. A number of specialists consider the Republic of Turkey as evidence of the possibility of synthesis of democratic and Muslim principles in a one legal framework. Turkey is the only country in the Muslim world that for the first and most of all has modernized the traditional Muslim order by the experience of European countries. Majalla is the most successful large-scale codification of Islamic law (fiqh) that occurred during the Tanzimat period in the Ottoman Empire. It is the example of the successful codification of islamic law. The research topic presents an academic interest because it allows answering urgent questions about the compatibility of democratic and Muslim principles, the possibility of building a rule of law state within the Islamic legal system and legal nature of fiqh (islamic law).
