The Influence of Foreign Participants in a Transaction on Merger Control in Russia

The aim of the presented work was to identify the influence of foreign participants in the merger transaction on the decision of the antimonopoly authority. For the analysis, a database including 8,273 transactions for the period from 2012-2019 was collected. During the study, various specifications of the multinominal model were used. As a result of the study, the influence of the foreign participant to the transaction on the decision of the antimonopoly authority was confirmed. Also, in the course of an econometric study, the significance of industry affiliation was revealed. A feature of this work is the use of a model with the combined effect of variables.
