The diploma project is a graphic novel about an ordinary girl working as a cashier in a supermarket. The main heroine grew up in Russia and since she was a child Janette has watched various female characters from films, serials, and books. Now she wants to find her place among these roles in order to self-determine in life. Each chapter plays out the plot clichés of different genres of mass media popular in Russia 2000s. Thus, the book makes fun of the stereotypes and social roles attributed to women in society, showing that her personality and individuality are much more important. The research methodology is based on the search and analysis of various female archetypes existing in the media, and also on the creation of their typology and the application of the data in the plot and visual of a future book. Russian media, like the popular culture around the world, have a great influence on people's minds. In our country, unfortunately, the media still reflects patriarchal values, which supports gender inequality and makes a woman’s life more difficult. Thus, from childhood, little girls have imposed gender roles and the image of “right” behavior. The objective of the project is to show that woman, as a person, means much more than any social model attributed to her by society.
