The second half of 2019 marked the beginning of a new stage in the social and political life of Russia. It all started in June, when civil society helped journalist Ivan Golunov, who was illegally prosecuted for drug trafficking. A month later, Moscow protests began, which resulted in the “Moscow affair”. These two significant events have led to important changes among political activists. This work examines the possibilities of deep disclosure of the image of political activists of the new generation in the format of documentary films. The first chapter pays attention to the analysis of documentaries of the 2010s about the protest movement in Russia and acquaintance with professional literature on film production. The second chapter describes the process of creating a documentary about young political activists. The result shows that the format of the documentary really allows to reveal the image of political activists from unexpected sides.
