Economic Aspects of DLT-Based Cryptoeconomic Solutions

Since its introduction, blockchain technology went from being exclusively associated with cryptocurrency to being seen as one of the most promising technologies to ensure global change. Nonetheless, a great deal of research needs to be conducted on wide-ranging possibilities of blockchain applications. The present study is aimed at identifying economic implications of distributed ledger technology, specifically blockchain and blockchain platforms. To achieve this objective, certain goals are supposed to be met. These goals include analysis of challenges proposed in fundamental works in the field of institutional economics, conclusion on how these challenges may be overcome through widespread adoption of blockchain. In addition, misconceptions about blockchain applicability were examined. Also, the implications of the emergence of digital platforms and blockchain platforms were determined.
