Conditions and Factors that Affect the Development of International Tourism in Large Russian Cities (the Case Study of Moscow and Saint Petersburg)

In this research the nature and forms of tourism, factors of organization, development and transformation of tourist flows are determined, also the assessment of impact of tourism on the socio-economic development of society is given. The world’s region-wise analysis of the main trends and factors in the development of international tourism is conducted. The dynamics and indicators of the competitiveness of international tourism in Russia are estimated. The main trends and factors in the development of tourism in large cities of the world, including Moscow and St. Petersburg, are identified. In this study the short-term prospects for the industry development in the context of the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 are contained. The analysis of indicators of state-run programs of Moscow and St. Petersburg is carried out and the main suggestions of improving competitiveness of the tourism industry in these cities are worked out.
