Chinese art market in 1990-2000: evolution of value orientations

The paper presents the research of Chinese art market in the 1990-2000 in the context of the value orientations’ evolution. The study identified the reasons for the rapid growth of the Chinese art market in the specified period, distinguished key players that have a direct impact on the change of value components, and analyzed the results of the bidding of the main auction houses in the country – China Guardian and Poly Auction. Due to the analysis, it became achievable to determine the most popular market sectors as well as the shifting Chinese public sentiment in regard to them during the study period.
