A change in the age structure of the population leads to an increase in the proportion of elderly people in it. An aging population is fraught with attendant problems: a lack of retirement savings and a shortage of labor. The use of the forces of persons of pre-retirement age on the labor market is becoming an increasingly necessary measure. The study understands how much society needs older workers and how much it is not ready for them to enter the market. The reason for this may be ageism and age-related prejudices about older people at all levels of social life, accompanied by the ousting of the older generation from society. The paper studies the main aspects of the economic activity of older generations, and explores the issue of age discrimination.
