Regional competitiveness is one of the key opportunities for increasing the country's economic growth and the wealth of population. The theoretical component of the study contains the definition of regional competitiveness and the consideration of several indexes that measure it. In the course of the work, we evaluated the main factors of regional competitiveness, divided into clusters the regions of Italy and identified the main prospects for increasing their competitiveness in the European market. The cluster analysis helped to determine some strengths and weaknesses of the economic development of the regions, as well as their similarities. Since the Italian economy is heterogeneous, the systematizations of factors leads to understanding the regional economic imbalances that historically developed in the country.
