The bachelor thesis paper aims to analyze and compare the success factors of the populist radical right party “Sweden Democrats” in the parliamentary elections of 2010, 2014 and 2018. Populist radical right parties stand for nativism ideology and politicize the immigration issue. The study aims to fill the scientific gap that depicts the conflictual impact of the hypothesis of social marginality and ethnic competition. To achieve the goal, a regression analysis and comparison of three electoral periods within 290 municipalities of Sweden are used. The study revealed a negative impact of economic growth, the share of people with higher education and social benefits on the party support, as well as a contradictory negative marginal relationship between unemployment and immigration change. The validity of the hypothesis of ethnic competition, represented by immigration and immigration change, is also partially proven.
