Migration has always been affected by the changes in climate. People have been and continue to be displaced around the world due to increase in temperatures and sea level rise and the intensifying frequencies of natural disasters. With the current rate of Carbon Dioxide emissions and the lack of proper policies to mitigate the negative effects of climate change, countries are heading towards a more severe humanitarian crisis. This paper analyses the effects of climate change, especially natural disasters, on internal displacements in the Pacific Island States, and the Horn and East of Africa, focusing on 8 countries over the period of 2008-2019. These effects are then compared to the effects of conflicts and violence on populations in those regions in order to establish which effects are more significant. The paper has a hypothesis that climate change has a more superior effect on displacements.
