For Russia, environmental issues are currently relevant. In Russia, in the field of environmental sustainability, there is a major problem - waste collection and disposal. In the Arkhangelsk region, the occupancy rate for landfills is currently 92%. This suggests that the region still has time for developing and changing the scope of waste management, as well as changing the classic scheme for waste disposal. In the course of the work, the foreign experience of introducing a circular economy, as well as the level of development of the circular economy in the Russian Federation, was studied. The state of the sphere of waste management in the Arkhangelsk region is analyzed, a sociological survey among residents of the Arkhangelsk region is conducted, and based on the data obtained, recommendations are developed to solve the identified problem with municipal solid waste in the region using the principles of a circular economy.
