Student media as a part of the structure of new media is attracting increasing interest among young people and is being affected by the political agenda. At the same time, the features of student publications are not considered in models of media communication, which excludes the possibility of a full analysis of the activities of the media at the present stage. The purpose of the research is to determine the vector of transformation of student media in particular the HSE media as independent and unincorporated media in connection with the coverage of the political agenda. As a result of descriptive analysis and quantitative analysis of data, the political agenda was defined as a factor in influencing the frequency of publications, changes in thematic focus and level of audience engagement in HSE media. The vector of development of university student publications was also identified by their types within the framework of several media theories.
