Political communication has become very intense since the advent of social media, that is why numerous academic and analytical papers on political communication on social media appeared. However, there are lacunas on the studies of the phenomenon under study in authoritarian countries, at the regional level. I use the holistic approach and examine the content, forms, and functions of the political communication between the authorities and the public on social media in Tatarstan, its’ two-way character and transparency. To achieve the purpose, I formulated my definition of political communication, transparent two-way political communication between the authorities and the public on social media, developed the methodic of analysis of political communication between the authorities and the public on social media, created a model of political communication between the authorities and the public on the social media Instagram and Vkontakte in Tatarstan, made recommendations for its’ improvement.
