Two Memory Systems Functioning as a Factor of Older People\'s Attitude toward Technical Novelties Ambivalence

In modern Russia ambivalence as a factor of the attitude of the older part of the population towards technical innovations and informational deprivation that is caused by it remain widely spread cases. Research of the attitudes of the elderly people towards new technologies highlight their ambivalent attitude. Research goal consists in examining the ambivalence within the attitude of the elderly people towards technical functioning of the two memory systems. Hypotheses were as following: Attitude of the elderly people towards technological innovations as a result of functioning of the two memory systems is characterised by ambivalence and their traditional views of the new technology. In order to achieve the goal and prove the hypothesis the following research tasks were formulated: 1. Characterize the two memory systems and the mechanism of prejudice formation. 2. Assess the attitude of the elderly people towards technical progress. 3. Discover the contents of the technological innovations that are causing negative perceptions. 4. Understand the influence of two memory systems on formation of belief ambivalence. A group of test subjects of corresponding (50+) age category took part in an experiment, which was a modified customer journey map method. In case of any mistakes or difficulties in answer a conclusion of a subject suppressing negative attitudes was made. Such attitudes are the consequences of the work of implicit memory.
