In this research, the political preferences of high school students of different groups were considered: full-time students in traditional schools and students who study outside the school – in a distant form. The background to the research is a steadily increasing number of those who prefer distant learning to the traditional school. Earlier this format of education was only possible for children and adolescents who due to circumstances are forced to relocate or have health restrictions, but now families voluntarily switch to home-schooling, even if potentially students are able to learn in traditional school. The research aims to fill the gap of knowledge about the political preferences of such a new group of home-schooling students in Russia. Despite the revealed differences in attitudes to certain political values, in general, these two groups of students do not differ from each other in their political preferences, but the study provides an understanding what in addition to the form of education significantly affects the political preferences of high school students, and contributes to the further study of this social group.
