Analysis of the Efficiency of Commercial Banks in Russia

Currently, one of the key elements of a modern market economy is the banking system. It includes a set of interconnected elements, such as the Central Bank, commercial banks and other credit and settlement institutions. This paper proposes to consider the types of effectiveness of commercial banks in Russia by analyzing Russian and foreign studies to determine their applicability in practice. The aim of the study is to assess the technical effectiveness of Russian commercial banks. The choice of the efficiency model is due to various studies of foreign authors Caner, Kantorovich (2004), Berger, Humphrey (1994) and other authors who have made a significant contribution to the development of this phenomenon using the example of other countries. The estimation method was chosen in accordance with the work of Golovan (2006), Styrin (2005) and Perezetskiy (2009), which were based on the analysis of models of stochastic production function for the sample. The principle of model formation contains an assessment of non-interest income and factors influencing it, according to a study by DeYoung, Rice (2004). In conclusion, expected results that may be useful for strategic planning for commercial banks, as well as for the prospects for further development of banking activities in general.
