Media Image of the Opposition during Protest Actions in Russia

This paper is devoted to the study of the creation of the opposition’s media image during the protests of 2011-2012 and 2019, differences between the coverage of protests and the media image of the opposition between 2011-2012 and 2019. The study performed the following tasks: the concept, types and functions of the political opposition and political protest, the media process consumption and media image formation; the main features of the media image of the Russian opposition, created by the media in 2011-2012 and 2019, were revealed. The study used methods such as analysis of scientific sources, content analysis and comparative analysis. In this work, the media image of the Russian political opposition was revealed for the first time in different periods of increased protest activity.
