Educational Programme: Economics (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2020

The purpose of this study is to study the differences in health indicators among entrepreneurs and employees. The study examines the following indicators: self-assessment of health, the presence of at least one disease, ambulatory treatment, physical fatigue, indicators of mental health and social well-being (loneliness, a sense of uncertainty about the future, the threat of losing a job). The analysis is based on the survey of the Federal state statistics service "Selective observation of behavioral factors affecting the health of the population" for 2013. The analysis of differences in indicators was based on logit models and marginal effects. The results of the study partially confirmed the hypotheses of the influence of employment on the health of respondents: 1) Entrepreneurs tend to rate their health higher than employees; 2) entrepreneurs are more likely to be physically tired after a working day; 3) Feeling threatened with job loss is more likely for employees.
