Computer-related Crime: Key Characteristics and Counteraction

The basis of modern society is information, information and telecommunications technologies, the illegal use of which on the basis of existing contradictions in society and taking into account the individual and personal characteristics of computer criminals generates the progressive development of computer crime as a social phenomenon. The graduate work describes the criminological characteristics of computer crime as a set of the most characteristic criminologically significant interrelated information about the signs and properties of this type of crime, the identity of the computer criminal, the causes and conditions of their Commission, and the main directions of preventive activity. The article outlines the features of computer crime, which, being an integral part of the General crime, is generated by both General social contradictions and specific features of the information sphere. It is noted that the preventive activities carried out need a comprehensive approach to the formation of the basic principles of computer crime deterrence at the socially neutral level and the forms of their achievement, focused on the prospect of building an information society in the geographical space of the Russian Federation.
