Despite the ambiguous experience of single-sex education in 1943-54, in the modern media space the topic of returning to separate training is being raised more and more often. However, in academic community studies of the reaction to separate schooling have been considerably neglected by historians. The present research aims to analyze the reaction on repudiation of single-sex education in Soviet press and fiction. The study is based on the extensive source base, where the reflection on the experience of separate schooling could be traced. The list of the sources includes children's and adolescent press, professional teachers' publications and belletristic literature aimed at elementary, middle and high school students.
