The Formation of Russian Sport in Pre-revolutionary Period

This work presents an analysis of sports discourse on the pages of specialized pre-revolutionary press. The work is aimed to recreate the image of sport in periodicals, to show how such phenomena as sport and Olympism were explained to readers, and which sides were highlighted. An analysis of sports discourse will make it possible to understand how Russian society at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries understood the sport and treated it. The work will also highlight the main trends in the development of pre-revolutionary sports journalism.
