The final qualification work on the topic ‘Improving Governmental Support for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses in the Administrative District of Saint Petersburg’ is devoted to the study of interaction between state authorities and small and medium-sized businesses. The legislative base of state support, its types and forms are considered. A review of foreign experience in supporting small and medium-sized businesses is presented, as well as a description of small and medium-sized businesses in the Russian Federation. As a result of the interview, the following problems were identified: lack of timely access to financial resources, excessive bureaucratization of various processes, lack of a centralized state body with sufficient resources and authority to oversee support for small and medium-sized businesses. Recommendations on developing this sphere are proposed. Keywords: SME, state support, micro-enterprises, infrastructure support
